Bertine Zetlitz – "Ashamed"

Don't finalize that singles list yet. Your girl is sneaking one in before the year's end.
Stylistically, "Ashamed" is not much different from what we heard on Bertine's last two albums, 2004's Rollerskating (which I reviewed—yay!) and 2006's My Italian Greyhound. It's charming and sleek sophisti-pop, which is perhaps not quite as hipster-approved as Róisín or Robyn but also not as mainstream-reaching as Kylie or Britney. Bertine is somewhere in between, and that's usually how we like it.
All we need now is for Annie to drop something before the year wraps up, and 2007 will officially be "Year of the Pop Semi-Starlet."
